Lord Fairfax EMS Council Mission Statement
The mission of the Lord Fairfax EMS Council is to promote a regional community-based emergency medical services (EMS) network that reduces premature death and disability from acute illness and injury through the coordination of local EMS resources. Our mission will be accomplished through teamwork, dedication, customer friendly staff, quality training, and by efficient and cost-effective operations.

Council Announces New Regional Field Coordinator

Instructor Classes Now Available

The Lord Fairfax EMS Council will hold two BLS CPR Instructor courses, one on February 3, 2018 from 8:00am-5:00pm at the Stanley Volunteer Fire Department & the other on February 16, 2018 at the Council's Training Center. The deadline for registration is January 26, 2018 at 4pm for the one at Stanley & February 9, 2018 at 4pm for the one at the Council. Newly adopted Protocols going live October 1, 2017!

The Operational Medical Directors for the agencies in the Lord Fairfax EMS Council region have endorsed and adopted new Regional Pre-Hospital Standard Patient Treatment Protocols. The newly adopted protocols have significant advancements to provide for an increase in the amount of skills and patient treatment that can be performed by EMS providers within the region. The new procotols become effective October 1, 2017. More


Recognition of EMS Personnel Licensure Interstate Compact

replica statesThe Nation’s first EMS Compact announces the date of the first official meeting where the interstate commission will be seated. Please read the press release for more information. REPLICA has been signed into legislation in 11 states and the first official meeting of the commission will be held October 7-8, 2017 in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. The notice of public hearing for the proposed rule has been released. The purpose of the proposed rule is to establish a rulemaking process of the Interstate Commission for EMS Personnel Practice that substantially conforms to the principles of the model state administrative procedure act of 2010 and subsequent amendments thereto. The Recognition of EMS Personnel Licensure Interstate Compact web site can be found at: http://www.emsreplica.org/


 

Council Presents Annual Awards

On Wednesday, June 21, 2017 the Council presented its annual Regional EMS Awards at the Front Royal Volunteer Fire Department. These winners will go on to compete for the state awards later this Fall. The winner of this year's $1,000 scholarship for Outstanding Contribution to EMS by a High School Senior was presented to Anna Griffin, a member of the South End Fire & Rescue Company. Anna is planning to attend Old Dominion University this fall and hopes to work in the healthcare field! More
