Lord Fairfax EMS Council Mission Statement
The mission of the Lord Fairfax EMS Council is to promote a regional community-based emergency medical services (EMS) network that reduces premature death and disability from acute illness and injury through the coordination of local EMS resources. Our mission will be accomplished through teamwork, dedication, customer friendly staff, quality training, and by efficient and cost-effective operations.

Council Brings Back Babysitter Training!

mc900232107The Council is excited to once again offer child and babysitting safety courses to school-aged students in the area. Targeted ages for these classes are students ages 11-15 years. Among the skills the students will learn are safety and injury prevention, babysitting as a business, and basic care giving skills. The child and babysitting safety course is certified through the American Safety & Health Institute. Successful class completion will result in a two year certification card. Important Epidemic Advisory

An update on the current opioid epidemic was provided to the Virginia EMS Advisory Board by Dr. Marissa Levine, Health Commissioner for the Virginia Department of Health. It was noted that the current trend in overdose cases continues to be on the rise around the state. Opioid Advisory


Annual Report Released

FDA Bans Powdered Gloves

The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has determined that Powdered Surgical Gloves, Powdered Patient Examination Gloves, and Absorbable Powder for Lubricating a Surgeon's Glove present an unreasonable and substantial risk of illness or injury and that the risk cannot be corrected or eliminated by labeling or a change in labeling. Consequently, the FDA is banning these devices. More


Performance Improvement Data Requirements Released

The Lord Fairfax EMS Council's Performance Improvement and Trauma Performance Improvement committees have released their data requirements for FY17. ALL licensed agencies are required by their Operational Medical Director to submit the data each quarter. Agencies are also to send a list of providers running calls within their agency at the same time for their OMD's use. All agencies should be receiving an e-mail with the requested data and corresponding deadlines. For more information, click here .
